The Vigilance police on Wednesday caught Sanghamitra Sahoo, Junior Engineer (JE), Begunia block in Khordha district, while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a contractor.
Sahoo had demanded the bribe for facilitating release of the contractor’s bills.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches were carried out on the residential house of Sahoo at MIG-1, Kalinga Vihar in Bhubaneswar and her office room. Later, she was arrested and forwarded to court.
Meanwhile, the Vigilance on the day arrested and forwarded to court Dusmanta Kumar Dehury, Assistant Engineer, RW Sub-Division, Nimapara in Puri district, for possession of disproportionate assets to his known sources of income.
The Vigilance, which had conducted raids on Dehury’s properties on Tuesday, had unearthed assets worth Rs 3.54 crore in his possession. The income, expenditure and assets of Dehury were calculated and he was found possessing disproportionate assets higher than 333% of his known sources of income.
