A special squad of the Commissionerate police on Wednesday arrested the accused involved in the attack on a young woman at VIP Colony under the Nayapalli police station on Monday.
The squad conducted a raid at a few hideouts of criminals and managed to nab the accused. An intensive Interrogation of the accused was ongoing to unravel more information about the incident. Prima facie suggested that the youth had attempted to loot a mobile phone from the victim; and when she resisted, he attacked her, police said. The CCTV footage of the incident surfaced where the youth was seen slitting the woman’s neck with a knife before fleeing the spot.
The injured woman was later admitted to a private hospital. The incident in the posh area triggered shockwaves among the residents and the rattled police formed the special squad to nab the accused.
