A woman doctor allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a running train at Chhatrapur in Ganjam district on Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Dr Archana Dash, daughter of Raghunath Dash of the Tarai Patapur area in the district.
According to reports, Archana had married Dr Anjan Dash of Gadakana of Bhubaneswar four years back. However, she had been staying in her parents’ house for long as she and her husband were not in good terms. She was working as Medical Officer of the Sindurpur PHC.
However, her body was found lying on tracks on Friday morning.
The Government Railway Police have started investigation after sending the body for postmortem.
While it has not been clear whether she committed suicide and her death was due to an accident, Archana’s parents have held Archana’s husband Anjan and her parents-in-law responsible for her death. “Anjan had served a court notice to Archana seeking divorce despite her reluctance. Archana committed suicide under stress for which Anjan and his parents are directly responsible,” Archana’s father Raghunath alleged in an FIR lodged at the Chhatrapur police station. He demanded stringent action against Anjaj and his parents.
