A pregnant woman delivered a child in a trolley rickshaw as an ambulance allegedly failed to reach her in time in the Nilgiri area.
Reports said Ranjita Kuanar, wife of Hemanta Kuanar of Dahi Sahi of Sajanagarh GP, had visited her parents’ house at Ranikotha village under Nilgiri NAC on occasion of the Raksha Bandhan. At about 8 pm on Sunday, she complained of labour pain.
Her family members immediately contacted 108 ambulance and Janani Express. Although they waited for some time but the ambulance did not arrive, they alleged. Finding no other option, the family members under the compelling circumstances made her sleep on a trolley rickshaw and pulled her up to the medical.
However, on their way to the hospital, she gave birth to a baby girl on the trolley rickshaw itself. The mother and her baby were later admitted to the Nilgiri Government Hospital, reports added.
