A woman was allegedly raped by a group of youths over old enmity at Kereda village in Kandhamal district on Sunday night.
The matter came to the fore after the victim lodged a complaint at the Sadar police station.
In her FIR, the complainant alleged that some people barged into her house, vandalised her car and raped her. She said her husband was absent when the incident took place.
She alleged that the sexual assault on her was fallout of past enmity.
As per her complaint, a man had made derogatory remarks against Hindu religion in an inebriated state around two months back. The complainant said she had an altercation with the man after she objected to the comments.
She alleged that accused along with his accomplices raped her to settle scores with her.
Sadar police station IIC Samir Rout said, “The woman has lodged a complaint that some people of the village barged into her house last night and attacked her over previous enmity. We have registered a case and an investigation is underway. Preliminary investigation suggests that it is a case of past enmity and the complainant has been injured in the attack. Other allegations of the complainant are being investigated.”
