In a gruesome incident, a 27-year-old woman was killed and her four-year-old son was left in critical condition,following the child's head was hit with a stone on Saturday morning at Futajora near Kandarpatia village under Jamboo Marine police limits.
According to sources, the locals came across the body of woman with her neck cut where as her minor child was lying in a pool of blood near the body. The locals later informed to the Jamboo marine police.
Acting on the information, a police team led by Kendrapada SP Madkar Sandeep Sampat, SDPO Rajib Lochan Panda, and Jamboo Marine police station IIC Maheswar Sethy besides a scientific team rushed to the spot to conduct inquiry.
According to IIC Sethy, the woman whose identity was yet to be established was killed on Friday night. The child was later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital for treatment.
The police also seized a knife, hand gloves, a liquor bottle, a Mangalsutra, two gamchhas and a half pant from the spot. The reason behind the gruesome murder was not yet known.
