A half-burnt body of a missing woman was recovered from the outskirts of Sunari village under the Dharmasala police station in Jajpur district on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Gitanjali Dash, daughter of Upnedra Panigrahi of Sunari. She had married Surendra Dash, a resident of Betanda village a few years ago. However, she left her in-laws’ house and went back to her parents’ place three years ago due to family feud.
On July 12, she went missing, following which her brother Soumyaranjan Panigrahi lodged a police complaint. In the morning, some locals spotted her partially-charred body in a bush and raised an alarm.
On receiving information, the Dharamsala police reached the spot and began an investigation into the incident after sending the body for postmortem.
