The Azim Premji Philanthropic Initiatives (APPI) on Monday signed an MoU with the State Government for eradication of malnutrition and for women development.

The APPI has targeted to achieve reduction of 15-20 percentage points in malnutrition across the State over a period of eight to 10 years. For this, it would spend Rs 300 crore during the period.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Naveveen Patnaik, Women and Child Development Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak and Chief Secretary AP Padhi.

The State Government has appointed nodal officers in each of the four key departments to provide support the APPI. “I hope the project would be success with support of the State Government. We will be able to get a concerted end output in terms of what we achieved,” Azim Premji said.

The Chief Minister thanked Azim Premji for extending his philanthropic endeavour to Odisha and choosing the Odisha as the first State to invest in the area of nutrition.

The APPI would improve the Integrated Child development Scheme (ICDS) delivery system, the flagship programme of the Women and Child Development Ministry.
