Why so many officials skipped poll duty: BJP to CEO

PNS

leader of the Bharatiya Janata legislature Party Jaynarayan Mishra on Friday urged Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Mona Sharma to conduct a proper inquiry into why as many as 109 Government officials skipped poll duty in Kendrapada district.

Hailing the Kendrapada district Collector for issuing non-bailable warrants (NBWs) against the officials, Mishra in a letter to the CEO said, “We apprehend that there were malafide intentions for these officials not reporting on duty. This matter should be investigated. The en masse dereliction of duty committed by so many officials raises many doubts.”

Mentioning the issue of Marshaghai BDO keeping EVMs in his residence and facing public ire while transferring the same to the strong room later, Mishra apprised the CEO that there is a law and order situation prevailing in the block. “It is obvious that this was done with intention of tampering the EVMs,” he alleged. Mishra urged Sharma to ensure that CC TV cameras are fixed at all the strong rooms where the EVMs have been stored for a round-the-clock surveillance.
