Opposition Congress on Monday demanded in the State Assembly that the Government let the House know the whereabouts of Basta MlA and former law Minister Raghunath Mohanty, who is accused of dowry torture.

Congress member Santosh Singh Saluja raised the issue of absence of Mohanty in the House for the last ten days following an FIR against him by his daughter-in-law Barsa Swony Choudhury. “Is the honourable member of the House Mr Mohanty kidnapped, alive or has been on pilgrimage,” Saluja sought to know from the Speaker.

He urged Speaker Pradip Kumar Amat to direct Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to make a statement in the House on Mohantys’ whereabouts after his resignation from the Cabinet after his daughter-in -law filed her case against him.

”Being a member of the House I have the right to know the whereabouts of my fellow member Mohanty,” Saluja asserted.
