The Watershed Development Mission has been working under the Soil Conservation Department, which is operated by both the State and the Central Governments. In Odisha, 741 workers have been working in the mission but they are reeling under uncertainties over job.
Though many of them are highly qualified but after working more than 15 years in this mission, they are still to get their due remuneration. Some who have crossed the age 48 are getting only Rs 10,000 as salary, stoking much resentment.
It is so hard to survive on part of them with the low salary. Their long standing demands are yet to be fulfilled.
They have been demanding that the written procedure should be stopped in the appointment of soil conservation extension workers and the DWMT'S should be appointed in these posts on regular basis.
Besides they want hike in salary.
