The Veer Surendra Sai Nagar Unnayan Parishaad on Friday expressed concern over the apathetic attitude of the Utkal University for not allowing VSS Nagar residents to witness the Rath Yatra in the campus.
Residents staged a protest in front of the university Gate-3 against the decision of the university authorities to construct a larger wall to stop the people of the VSS Nagar to enter the university premises. The residents lighted lamps in front of the gate and prayed for good sense to prevail with the university authorities.
Parishad general secretary Dillip Dashsharma said that for quite long years, Jagannath devotees and residents of the area are waiting to witness the Rath Yatra in the campus.
Parishad treasurer Maheswar Biswal, joint secretary Pratap Nanda, Senior Citizens’ Committee secretary Er Suresh Chandra Kar, Durga Puja Samiti vice-president Nimai Das participated in the protest.
