The city wing of the Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari celebrated the Universal Brotherhood Day to commemorate the epic speech delivered by Swami Vivekananda on September 11, 1983 in Chicago at the World Parliament of Religions.
CHSE Chairman Basudev Chhatoi graced the occasion as chief guest and impressed upon the relevance and usefulness of Swamiji’s speech and values in the present day context. He highlighted the need for universal brotherhood to maintain peace and all round development of human race irrespective of their religion.
City president of the Vivekananda Kendra Kanyakumari Prof GK Roy gave welcome address and said about the objective of the programme.
Scribe Ashok Panda, Anil Kumar Kar and secretary Santap Kumar Jena also spoke, among others. Winners of various school, college and university level competitions were felicitated on the occasion.
