The villagers of Kandaisingh and Angada under Kujasingh panchayat of Gumma block staged demonstration in front of the Collector office demanding immediate arrest of the local Sarapanch who cheated people under the plea of providing houses under the Indira Awas Yojana (IAY).
The villagers alleged the accused, identified as Kanu Charan Bhuyan, took Rs 20,000 from each person to provide Indira Awas under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, but till today the victims did not receive any benefits under the IAY. When the villagers contacted Bhuyan, he threatened them with dire consequence. The protestors submitted a memorandum to the district Collector. They also alleged rampant irregularities in the panchayat under different schemes like drinking water, healthcare, transportation, electricity and wage employment and said that the villagers are resorting to distress migration.
