Goons attacked affected villagers and their leader Debashisha Hota while protesting a road construction work in the Bhuban area on Monday.
The villagers under the banner of the Bhusal Area Illegal Mines Khyatigrastha Praja Sangharsha Samiti led by its convenor Debashisha Hota were discussing an illegal road construction by filling up Damasal canal with the road contractor when few local BJP workers allegedly assaulted them.
Since thousands of farmers are dependent on the canal for irrigation purpose, the forum requested the road contractor to stop the work.
However, the goons argued with the locals as to why they didn’t obey BJP leader Satrughna Jena, instead of Hota. An FIR was lodged at the Bhuban Police Station. later, Hota took up the matter with the Dhenkanal SP.
