The Odisha Vikash Parishad (OVP) on Friday staged a demonstration in front of the official residence of Food and Civil Supplies Minister Pratap Keshari Deb here demanding immediate Government measures to check the soaring onion prices.
OVP members raised slogans against the Government and demanded reduction in the prices of onion with immediate effect. Around 50 activists participated in the protest. later, a delegation headed by OVP president Susanta Kumar Padhee met the Minister and the Department Secretary and submitted a memorandum to them.
“We met the Minister and the Secretary and discussed about a regulatory market mechanism to control the prices of onion and other commodities. The Minister assured us of positive measures soon,” said Padhee.
