A five-member team of Vigilance officials conducted a raid on the Regional Development Organisation (RDO) office here on Wednesday in connection with alleged fund irregularities.
Sources said that around Rs72 lakh, sanctioned from the funds of Rajya Sabha and lok Sabha MPs to carry out development work in the town has been siphoned off. The irregularities occurred during 2009, 2010 and 2011.
Even some staffs of the office have taken advance payments on different grounds but have not paid back. The investigating agency is looking into this aspect also, sources added.
