Vigilance sleuths from Cuttack led by Inspector Kamal Kumar Panda on Tuesday conducted an inquiry at the Pattamundai Women’s College in connection with the alleged irregularities in staff appointment and computer purchases made by the college authorities.

According to Panda, a petitioner had complained to the Vigilance that the college authorities had violated norms in recruiting some lecturers during the year 2013 following the State Government’s permission to open Plus Two Science and Honours subjects in Plus Three streams. The petitioner had also alleged that college authorities had embezzled lakhs of rupees in purchase of Xerox machines and computers.

“The Vigilance department has asked the college authorities to submit all documents relating to appointment of staffs to establish truth against the allegation. Besides, we have started preliminary inquiry into the misappropriation charge,” said Panda.
