A Public Prosecutor of the Vigilance department, Asutosh Mishra, of Bhawanipatna was caught red-handed by Cuttack vigilance sleuths while he was taking bribe on Saturday.
He was nabbed in his residence of Bhawanipatna while taking a bribe of Rs 1 lakh from former Mahulpatna outpost ASI Malaya Rana for a compromise in a case.
Cuttack Additional Vigilance DSPs Prakash Nayak and P K Dwibedi, Malkangiri DSP Susanta Biswal and Pradeep Kumar Pradhan were present.
Vigilance officials said that Mishra had demanded Rs 3 lakh from the complainant Rana.
A year ago, Rana was suspended for taking bribe from a complainant.
