Vegetable vendors jam Kalimandir road in Jharsuguda

PNS

There seems to be no end to woes for commuters travelling on the Kalimandir temple road, which often witnesses traffic jams. After closure of Haats, the vegetable vendors put their shops in front of the temple of Kalimandir. The local residents say lack of parking space and encroachments by vegetable vendors have made their life difficult. Other than a school, various banks and private firms have their offices in the area. Kalimandir Para, Ghosh Para, Sivji Colony, Tali Para, Pahadi Mandir and Aadarsh Colony are thickly populated areas.

People from different parts of the town are coming for marketing to the place. Besides, devotees are coming to offer their prayers at Kalimandir. The Kalimandir temple area is not an authorised place for the vendors to sell their vegetables as there is risk of accidents. The authorities must take note of the problem, said Pankaj Naik, a resident of Kalimandir temple area. On same road towards Engineering School near Lotan Bagicha, there is a wide area and if these vegetable vendors shift to that place, it will be better, opined many residents in area. Further as Government has restricted gatherings at temple, the management of Kalibari has restricted celebrations like Amabasya, Neel Sasthi, Pratistha Divas, Bengali New Year.

No Bhogs are cooked for devotees. But if the administration does not co-operate to restrict such gatherings, what is justification of imposing restrictions, they asked.
