The Vedanta Limited, Lanjigarh, Kalahandi, a producer of metallurgical grade alumina, observed the National Cancer Awareness Day on Saturday.
The company organised knowledge-sharing and sensitisation sessions covering 50 Nand Ghars (Aanganwadis modernised by the Vedanta) of Kalahandi and Rayagada districts.The cluster coordinators of Nand Ghars interacted with women beneficiaries and front-line workers about various types of cancer, especially breast cancer and oral cancer, and intimated them about the various Government schemes related to the disease and its treatment.
Company COO Rakesh Mohan said, “With burgeoning incidence of cancer worldwide, we have come forward to sensitize the rural communities about the disease. This session will go a long way towards imparting important information to our communities about the disease.
We will continue to conduct such awareness programmes in the future.”Many villagers appreciated the company for the programme.
