The Utkal Sammilani has condemned the reported derogatory statement of Culture Minister Maheswar Mohanty ‘Ghoda Dimbata Heba’ to mediapersons recently.
It may be noted that the phrase used by the Minister is derisively used in Odia to suggest that nothing substantially will happen out of one’s efforts.
“Recently, some renowned persons, who have prepared a 545-page record of Odia language in a bid to secure classical tag for the language, submitted the record to the Minister. But when asked by mediapersons as to whether he would submit the document to the Union Government, the Minister replied that if Odia gets classical tag then ‘Ghoda Dimbata Heba’ which is absolutely deplorable,” said Sammilani Mancheswar Industrial branch president Dillip Dashsharma in a Press release here. He also demanded resignation of the Minister immediately.
