A Utkal literature Festival (UlF)-2016 would be held from September 4 to 6 here at the Bhanja Kala Mandap. It is a public festival to celebrate literature and performing arts, organised by the Utkal literature Festival Trust (UlF).
The UlF would be a bilingual festival and there would have both Odia and English sessions. The festival would have panel discussions, conversations, ‘Meet the Author’ programmes, book readings, poetry recitals and other literary sessions on fiction, non-fiction, translation, regional literature, bilingual writing etc.
Eminent and promising writers and poets from the State and various parts of the country would participate.
In order to encourage young and upcoming writers, the festival would also feature ‘Creative Writing Workshop’ and ‘Poetry under the Tree’ sessions.
“The purpose of the festival is to offer a bilingual platform in Odia and English, where creative writers, artists, academicians, critics, translators from across the country can come together and deliberate on the high points of literature,” said Personnel Department Additional DG and an active member of UlF, Debashish Panigrahi.
The objective of the festival is to promote Odia language and literature and take it beyond the borders of Odisha through translation and bilingual writing, he added.
