The Utkal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (UCCI) in association with the Taxopedia Advisory Pvt ltd held a conference on “GST: Opportunities and Challenges” at its premises here on Tuesday.
The Inaugural Session was presided over by UCCI vice-president (general) Brahma Mishra. The keynote address was delivered by Taxopedia Advisory director Shyam Sundar Sonthalia.
Chief guest State Additional Commissioner of Commercial Taxes Anand Kumar Satpathy inaugurated the summery publication and appreciated the joint initiative to make people aware about the implications and opportunities of application of GST.
At a technical Session, Tarun Kr Agarwalla, chairman, UCCI indirect taxes committee, UCCI and Anand Satpathy briefed the members about the concept of the model GST law including concept of CGST, SGST and IGST. They also briefed about levy, supply, exemption from tax and place and time of supply of goods and services.
