The retrieved body parts of Ushashree Parida were consigned to flames at the Khan Nagar crematorium here on Tuesday afternoon. The body parts had been handed over to her relatives by the police after autopsy done by the FMT Department of the SCB Medical College Hospital here.
The body parts of former Army doctor Somanath Parida’s wife were seized by the Bhubaneswar police and sent here for postmortem after nearly three weeks of her death on June 3. Although it was very difficult for the forensic experts to perform the autopsy on the highly decomposed body parts, the doctors, however, have expressed their opinion about the cause of the death saying that the victim had died due to massive head injury.
Performing the last rites of Ushashree, whose body was allegedly chopped into several pieces measuring six to eight inches, the relatives of the woman here said they would perform some other rituals at the Puri Swargadwar later in the day as per the last wishes of the deceased.
