Activists Biswapriya Kanungo and Narendra Mohanty in letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik have urged to provide support and assistance to a minor tribal girl, who became mother of a female baby, after being allegedly sexually exploited by the Koraput district’s Nandapur block Ashram school headmaster.

The minor tribal girl, who was a Class IX student of the school, delivered a living baby girl on January 6 in the Saheed laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital after being sexually exploited by the headmaster.

later, the victim girl was admitted to the hospital on January 10, after developing irritability and was treated by psychiatrist as she was suffering from post-partum psychosis.

She was discharged from the hospital on January 12 and again was brought to the hospital on January 17 for post-partum psychosis.

During the course of her treatment as an indoor patient, the victim girl became violent and started breaking windows and doors of the hospital ward as per media reports.

Surprisingly, the victim girl had not been shifted to any higher centre for better treatment yet. As it is a serious matter, the activists in the letter have requested the CM for support and assistance of the State Government to the victim and for her baby’s rehabilitation and re-integration.

They have also requested the CM to provide adequate monetary compensation, best treatment and economic and social rehabilitation of the minor tribal girl and her female baby to lead a dignified life.
