Social institution Vikash celebrated the 125th birth anniversary of the chief architect of the Indian Constitution Dr BR Ambedkar here on Tuesday. Vikash president Dr Gopal Krushna Behera presided over the function.
Dr Ambedkar, who is a pioneer builder of modern India, had fought against social injustice done to the Dalits. It is because of his initiative, a resolution was passed in the Central Assembly removing the restrictions on the depressed class men in Military forces against holding the post of Officers, said Odisha Telugu Samakhya president Dr AK Verma. “It is regrettable that politicians are now resorting to unfair practices only to capture Dalit vote bank, as majority of the Dalit population is still uneducated and remain in poverty,” Dr Verma said.
Vikash secretary and MASM coordinator Abani Kumar Gaya said Dr Ambedkar, who was one of the prime architects of the Indian Constitution, fought to secure Constitutional guarantees for socially backward classes and to eradicate untouchability and caste restrictions.
“But the contemporary politicians are misusing Constitutional provisions for their political gains and we all should fight against such forces,” Gaya lamented.
