An undertrial prisoner (UTP) lodged at the Angul jail died at the Angul District Headquarters (DHH) on Monday after prolonged illness.
Sraban Kumar Kumar of Madhupur village under the Bantala police station had been lodged in the jail on the charges of raping and killing a minor girl at his village.
His health condition was not well for last few days. He was admitted to DHH on Sunday, said jail authorities.
Meanwhile, the postmortem of the deceased was conducted and the body was handed over his family members.
