Unauthorised occupants to lose Muktimandap seats

PNS

The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) would withhold access to the unauthorised persons from the Muktimandap after verification of them.

The illegal occupants would lose the prestigious seat, since they have to now produce proofs of a village background and ancestry. Besides, the newly induced five Brahmin villages as per the Government notification would be inducted into Muktimandap after completing processes before February this year.

Hearing a plea of a villager in connection with his entitlement, the temple Chief Administrator (CA) Pradipta Mohapatra on Tuesday ordered the officer-in-charge (OIC), Niti, to complete the process of both inclusion of new members and removal of unauthorised occupants after detecting them properly. Based on their ‘Dakara Hakara’, (a term used as proof of heredity in the village), the SJTA would decide steps.

However, the OIC assured the CA to complete the processes by February this year.

It is worth noting here that the SJTA has initiated steps against some sitting members of the Muktimandap relating to their illegibility, besides entitlement of their ancestral village near Puri. After a complaint that some people in the city are sitting illegally over the Muktimandap and receiving equal shares from the daily earning, the SJTA has began action. A case is also pending with the SJTA relating to the audit report of the Muktimandap, where ` 16 lakh is missing from the accounts
