Wine shops are selling more than the Maximum Retail Price (MRP) irrespective of all the brands here, alleged the customers.
They are charging arbitrarily an extra of Rs15 to Rs.30 on every bottle over MRP, said one Parsuram Patro of Bhanja Chowk. He further alleged that once he took a whisky bottle with more than the MRP rate from a wine shop located near Jharigam road and later he found it a duplicate one, as it was different in test and quality.
They are playing with people’s health in connivance of local Excise and police officials, Patro fumed.
A complaint with the authorities and to the Collector has been made, but no action has been taken yet, said a local denizen. However, the local Excise officials denied such complaint and said they would take stern action if such thing came to their notice.
