Condemning the Friday’s statement of Health Minister Dr Damodar Rout “nobody will die without having potatoes,” the Utkal Bharat youth wing on Saturday demanded a public apology from him.
Staging a demonstration here, party workers burnt effigies of Civil Supplies Minister Pratap Keshari Deb and Agriculture Minister Debi Prasad Mishra for their failure in handling the potato crisis.
They also demanded immediate import of potatoes from States like Bihar and Haryana to resolve the crisis. Utkal Bharat spokesperson Benudhar Samanta, Bhubaneswar district president Rabi Narayan Nanda and many other were present on the occasion.
