Two hardcore women Maoists carrying a reward of Rs 4 lakh each on their heads surrendered to South-Western Range IGP Yashwant Jethwa here on Monday. The two Maoist leaders are Phulabati alias Mithila (30) and Rukmati alias Ramshila (28) of Bijapur district in Chhattisgarh. They were working as Area Committee Members (ACMs) in Chhattisgarh since 2006, police sources said.
Jethwa said the duo was actively providing leadership as ACMs of Koili Bhitar area committee at Mainpur under the Nuapada Division of the CPI Maoist organisation. “Rukmati was also a member of the protection team of Mainpur Nupada Division secretary and a Central Committee member Murali,” he said and added that the surrender comes soon after an exchange of fire between Maoists and security forces in the area.
