The Pattamundai police on Tuesday arrested six persons, including two women, on charge of their involvement in murder of one Pareswar Sahu of Narendrapur village under Aul police limits, said IIC Baruni Das.

They were identified as Biswajit Mandal, Mukunda Adhikari, Kartik Biswal, Nikhil Biswas, Manimala Mandal and Pana Mandal. The police also seized sharp weapons from their possessions. They belong to Osangara village’s Bengali colony. While Manimala is the mother-in-law of bigamist Biswajit Mandal and Pana is his wife, informed Das.

It may be noted here that the Pattamundai police, on last Friday, had retrieved decomposed body of a person, who was allegedly brutally killed by a group of persons in a farm land in Minjauni village. The police had unearthed multiple injury marks on the deceased’s body. The deceased person was later identified as Pareswar.

The police came to know that Pareswar had gone in a motorbike on last Thursday to take stock of his agriculture land at Minjauni village and did not return to his house. later, his wife had lodged an FIR at Pattamundai police station.  Pareswar had a land deal with the prime accused Biswajit. He earlier had taken `5,000 from Biswajit to register a land in Biswajit’s name but did not register the land. On Thursday, Biswajit allegedly invited Pareswar to attend a feast organised at his house.  As Pareswar came to his house, Biswajit asked him to register land in his name by signing in a land document. When Pareswar denied, Biswajit and his aides attacked Pareswar with a sharp weapon and killed him.

The six arrested persons were on Tuesday produced before the JMFC court of Pattamundai where they were remanded into jail custody after their bail pleas were rejected. Meanwhile, a haunt is on to nab another accused, lalita Mandal, in the case.
