Unidentified miscreants on Tuesday night attacked a family at Central Line area of Burla in Sambalpur district. Two family members died and two sustained grievous injuries in the attack.
Reports said the assailants came in a car and brutally assaulted Bulu Bisoyi (34), his father, mother and brother Muna (32) with swords and other lethal weapons in their house.
The victims were critically injured in the incident and rushed to the VIMSAR in Burla, where doctors declared Bulu dead. Later, Muna also succumbed to the injuries.
Police have detained four persons in this connection and started an investigation. Though the reason behind the attack was yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that the incident was fallout of past enmity.
