Police on Friday night arrested two notorious criminals on NH-5 at Chandikhol on the charge of their involvements in many crimes in Jajpur district and other parts of the State.
They were Chaitan Behera (32) of Radhakantapur under the Jenapur police station and Akhil Rout (35) of Mahulipala, said Badachana PS IIC Ranjit Kumar Sahoo. The police seized four bullets, two mobile phones and a motorbike from them.
The police suspected that the duo dumped two revolvers in a pond when they tried to arrest them. “We have sought the help of fire brigade personnel to fish out the revolvers from the pond,” a police officer said. Both criminals were produced in the court of Judicial Magistrate First Class at Chandikhol. The court rejected their bail applications and remanded them to jail custody.
