Two final year Civil Engineering students of NAT, Rourkela (NITR) drowned on Saturday while taking bath in the Gudguda waterfall near Kuchinda of Sambalpur district. They were identified as Nishant Rawot (23) of Dehradun, Uttarakhand and Soumya Baral (22) of Bhubaneswar. While the body of Nishant was recovered on Saturday, that of Soumya was traced on Sunday.
After getting the shocking news, the entire NIT mourned the tragedy. NITR Director Sunil Sarangi immediately sent a team to Kuchinda to coordinate with the police, local administration and hospital for further formalities. NITR source said about thirty boys and five girls had been to Gudguda, Kuchinda by a bus for a picnic.
