Kendrapada SP Nitinjeet Singh on Tuesday suspended two police staffs of the Pattamundai police station on the charge of dereliction of duty.
The two, Constable Samir Mohanty and Havildar PR Das, were held responsible for escaping of an arrested person, Bijay Mallick, from the judicial custody on Monday. The two were escorting Bijay to jail after his bail was rejected by the JMFC Court here, informed Pattamundai SDPO Kedarnath Sahu.
Notably, the Pattamundai police had nabbed Bijay on Monday morning on the charge of dowry torture following an FIR lodged by his wife Chuma Mallick. Chumma alleged that Bijya had assaulted her brutally.
