Two workers were severely injured following a blast on Wednesday in lakhanpur opencast mine of quarry number-3 of the MCl lakhanpur Area.
The injured identified as Dharmapada Khamari and Gandharba Sethi were admitted in Jahangir Gandhi Hospital. As the condition of Khamari deteriorated, he was sent to a private hospital of Cuttack. However, the condition of Sethi has improved.
The blast occurred due to carelessness of the concerned officers and the matter should be handed over to Director General Mines Safety (DGMS) for the investigation, said workers’ union officials.
lakhanpur General Manager MG Brahmapurkar Manoranjan said the workers were injured after the detergent used in coal mine blasted. The cause of the blast would be cleared after enquiry, he added.
