In view of the truckers’ strike from Thursday, Samajwadi Party State unit president Rabi Behera on Wednesday urged Food and Civil Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister for prompt action to check the possible price hike of essential commodities in the State. In a letter to Minister Sanjay Dasburma, Behera stated that around 2 lakh trucks of State would participate in the all India strike starting Thursday.
“The strike will create on opportunity for the hoarders and black marketers to hike prices of essential commodities for which the general consumers will be exploited. As such the market price of onion, dal, oil, sugar and other essential commodities are very high which is pinching the pockets of common people. The truckers strike will add fuel to the fire and market price will go up,” stated Behera.
