An iron ore truck driver faced the wrath of some brokers and sustained injuries after he was attacked by them near Jadupurgada on Paradip-Daitary Expressway on Monday.
Driver Annada Prasad Choudhury invited the brokers’ fury when he opposed them for giving illegal passage to trucks for pecuniary benefit.
Marshaghai Police station IIC Sukanta Kumar Patra said a group of brokers allegedly were giving passage to some iron ore trucks on the Paradip-Daitary Expressway near Jadupurgada on wrong route by taking money from the truck drivers, when Choudhury, whose truck was stranded in a queue, protested the act. Soon, it led to an altercation between the brokers and Choudhury and the brokers assaulted Choudhury with sharp weapon and left him injured critically.
Mashaghai police later rescued the injured driver and sent him to the district headquarters hospital for treatment. Choudhury lodged an FIR on Monday. Police have registered a case and are conducting a probe in the case. Nobody was arrested. However, a haunt is on to nab the accused, said IIC Patra.
