Promotee IAS officer Premananda Khuntia, who was earlier embroiled in a controversy of sending an obscene video to a junior woman officer, is likely to face troubled times ahead as the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has asked the State Government to investigate the case.
The PMO has sent a letter to the Chief Secretary directing to probe the case of alleged sexual harassment. The victim woman was also summoned by the State Commission for Women (SCW) on Friday for a
hearing.
Notably, the woman OAS officer of the Women and Child Welfare Department had lodged a complaint with the Mahila police on October 10, 2015 about Khuntia sending the obscene video to her. Based on her complaint, the officer was arrested. However, he obtained bail from court.
The woman had also brought the matter to the notice of Khuntia's higher authorities.
The Mass Education Department, where Khuntia was posted then, conducted an internal inquiry and referred the matter to the police for investigation.
