The Trinamool Congress on Friday demanded that the State Government publish a White Paper on its preparation for the upcoming Puri Nabakalebar festival soon.“Nabakalebar has been observed several times. But the State Government is hoodwinking people by conducting review meetings on unreal issues frequently,” Trinamool Congress State convenor Aryakumar Jnanendra told a Press conference here.
He said while the Grand Road in Puri has a capacity to accommodate only 10 lakh people at a time the Govt is trying to take mileage of taking steps to manage a gathering of 25 lakh people. He further alleged that the Government has fraudulently given Cabinet status to the Chairman of the Nabakalebar Committee, Maheshwar Mohanty.
“Generally, all Nabakalebar things are managed by the State law Minister, who has got a Minister of State status. How the Nabakalebar Chairman, who has been given a Cabinet Minister status, is working under him,” he wanted to know.
Jnanendra slammed the Government for not paying Rath Yatra dues to the Daitapatis stating that they would play a major role in performing Nabakalebar riturals. Similarly, he resented that the Govt was yet to apologise to the Sankaracharya, who did not attend the last Rath Yatra due to curbs imposed on his disciples for climbing the chariots. He demanded that the Govt stop taking political mileage and publish a White Papers soon on Nabakalebar preparation.
