In a shocking incident, miscreants allegedly stole away the National Flag from the historic salt Satyagraha Memorial Pillar at Inchudi village in Baleswar district.
A written complaint in this regard was lodged at Khantapada police station on Saturday.
The theft of national flag came to light after Salt Satyagraha Memorial Committee secretary Prashant Mohanty during his visit to the place on Saturday afternoon found the pole in front of memorial pillar was vandalised and the flag missing.
He informed about it to other members at the memorial committee and lodged a complaint with the police.
The matter is being investigated by police following the complaint.
The theft incident was reported just a month after a freedom fighter’s statue was stolen from the memorial pillar.
The miscreants allegedly had stolen the statue of freedom fighter loknath Mohanty near the memorial pillar on July 6 night. However, the police are yet to trace the accused in the incident so far.
