The Smt Nandini Satpathy Memorial Trust (SNSMT) and some other organisations observed the 86th birth anniversary of the ‘Iron lady’ of Odisha the late Nandini Satpathy and paid rich tributes to her.
SNSMT chairman Suparno Satpathy paying floral tribute to the statue of Nandini Satpathy near the Raj Bhavan here spoke about his personal relationship with his grandmother and thanked everyone who had taken out time and paid their homage to the former CM of Odisha.
Remembrance meetings were held in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul, Talcher, Sambalpur, Puri, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Mayurbhanj, Delhi, Mumbai, Gurgaon, Bengaluru, Chennai, Puducherry, Kolkata, Dhaka, Washington DC, london and others places. Notably, June 9, the birthday of Nandini Satpathy, was notified as the National Daughters' Day of India, Nandini Diwas, in year 2007 by the then Governor of Odisha late Rameshwar Thakur and had been vetted by the then PM Dr Manmohan Singh.
