Tribals call Baripada Bandh on Dec 19

PNS

Protesting absence of Santhali language in the new `500 and `2,000 currency notes, a tribal organisation here has called a 12-hour Baripada bandh on December 19.

MASA resented the negligence and injustice meted out to Santhali and Santhals by the Union Government and the Reserve Bank of India and appealed to the people to support the call.

Santhali is one of the languages recognized by the Constitution and as such, it should find a place in the new currency notes, its leaders Babulu Soren and Suraj Soren told in a Press release.
