PNS

A fire broke out at the Bangriposi-Balasore Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) train at the Bangriposi station in Mayurbhanj district on Tuesday. However, no one was injured in the incident.

While the DMU was stationary at the station at around 1:05 pm, the fire erupted in its engine. Though the exact reason of the mishap was not yet known, it was suspected that it was due to an electric short circuit. Fire Services personnel reached the spot and doused the flame. Meanwhile, a team of railway engineers arrived at the station to ascertain the reason behind the blaze.

Sources said the DMU train would leave for its destination after its thorough inspection.

Railway Action Committee secretary Shantanu Kumar Das alleged that the mishap occurred due to negligence on the part of Railways in looking after old engines.
