Unidentified miscreants early on Sunday morning looted Rs 10.72 lakh from a group of four traders at the Tikatala-Manibandha road under the Begunia police station in Khordha district.

The incident occurred at about 5 am when the traders were travelling by a Scorpio.

The robbers used a Bolero vehicle to chase the businessmen’s car and intercepted them midway. As soon as the businessmen stopped, the miscreants opened fire at the formers’ vehicle and assaulted them with iron rods injuring them. Soon after, the miscreants fled the spot. The businessmen were admitted to the Khordha District Headquarters Hospital. The victims too lodged a complaint with the Begunia police about the incident.

The businessmen said they knew the robbers. “I know the men who attacked us and decamped with our money. This is a well-coordinated act,” said one of the businessmen.

Meanwhile, collecting information from the victims, the Begunia police launched a manhunt to nab the culprits.
