A senior Central Government officer and his wife were looted by a taxi driver here on Sunday. Deputy Director of Union Urban Development Ministry Charat Kumar along with his wife had come here to visit the Konark Sun Temple hiring a taxi bearing number OR-02-BA 8106 from Bhubaneswar. The driver was also paid Rs 1,000 as advance.
After their visit to the temple, the driver had taken them to the Chandrbhaga sea beach and parked the vehicle at a parking place near Chandrabhaga Bazaar.
But after returning from the beach, they found that the taxi was not there. ‘The taxi driver looted their bag, which was in the car and which contained some important documents and cash of Rs 3,000, sources said. The officer lodged a complaint at the Konark police station.
