Trinamool Congress (TMC) general secretary Mukul Roy on Monday said his party would field candidates for both the lok Sabha as well as the Assembly elections in the State in an effort to send maximum representatives to the Parliament.

“We will field candidates for both the lok Sabha and Assembly seats. However, we have not yet decided on how many candidates we will put up in the State,” said Roy at a Press conference here.

The former Railway Minister said though the party is interested in having an electoral arrangement with non-Congress and non-BJP parties, it is yet to initiate any talks with the prospective parties in this regard. The party is likely to hold talks with BJD chief Naveen Patnaik about possible seat sharing in the coming days, he informed. Reiterating TMC chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s stand, he claimed that the TMC would play a decisive role in the formation of the Government at the Centre after the lok Sabha elections. “We will determine the shape of the next Government at the Centre,” Roy boasted.

Stating that neither the Congress nor the BJP will be able to form Government at the Centre, he favoured for a federal front and said the TMC would emerge as the third largest party in India after the elections.

Attacking the Centre for price rise and corruption, he said, “Our fight is against corruption and price rise. Our fight is also for unity, integrity and communal harmony. We want to establish a Government for the welfare of the people.”
