Forester Sucharita Samantray and Forest Guard Chandan Behera of Tigiria were suspended on Friday in connection with the recent leopard death case in Haridapasi jungle, the carcass of which was found on Sunday last, revealed Assistant Conservator of Forest RK Das.
It was the first such incident of suspension of any employee in the last one year even though several wild animals including elephant have perished due to negligence of officials.
The suspended duo in their reaction to this paper said their bosses are equally responsible for the death of the leopard.
Meanwhile, Rakesh Kumar Pradhan, forester of Narsinghpur east range, has taken over the chargefrom suspended forester Sucharita Samantray.
Meanwhile, Monoranjan Mohapatra, an environmentalist here, has written a letter to the National Tiger Conservation Authorities and animal rights activist and MP Maneka Gandhi to probe the case of the leopard death here and reveal the true reason of its death.
